Fashion For Self Care: 7 Stylish Self Care Ideas.

Hey everyone, welcome back to my fashion blog where I share style advice and tips to help you find your personal style. So in a previous post, I’d talked about fashion as a form of self love and how you can love your body through fashion (you can check it out here) and for today’s post I’m going to be giving you a list of stylish self care ideas you can try right now (don’t worry, you’ll love all of them😉💖).

So when it comes to self care, most people think of just taking time off to focus on the inside and focusing on things like spas, journaling, listening to music, plugging off social media, minding what you eat and so on. But then what if I told you that fashion can be used for self care and that there are ways you can include fashion in your self care routine? You see, a lot of people actually end up neglecting their style because they feel it’s too trivial or something of the sort, however it’s quite important to note that focusing on your style is a form of self care, and by actually paying attention to what you wear, you are actually taking care of yourself. When you are mindful of what you wear, and you put in the effort to dress up and look your best, you are boosting your confidence and lifting your mood through your style (look good, feel good).

So, what exactly are these self care ideas that allow you to take care of yourself through paying attention to your style? Well, for the purpose of this post I decided to give a list of seven stylish self care ideas that are simple but powerful and you’d definitely love them. Now, without further ado, let’s get to it;

7 Stylish Self Care Ideas You Can Try Right Now.

1.) Declutter your closet: Take out the time to go through your closet and sort through what you have, so that you know what you’re keeping and what you’re letting go of. Decluttering your closet allows you to get rid of those clothes that no longer work for you (maybe you’ve outgrown them or they no longer suit your style) and create space for new things.

2.) Plan your outfits: Put in the effort and plan what you’re going to wear each day. Take out the time to plan what outfits you’re going to wear whether it’s for the week or for the next day, just try to put in some effort and plan your outfits. Planning your outfits and being intentional about your style helps you to make the most of the expressive power of style, as well as giving you some satisfaction when your plan goes well.

3.) Get dressed: I didn’t say put on some clothes or just throw on the first thing you see, I said get dressed, as in put some thought into what you’re wearing. When you’re getting ready for the day, try to dress up a bit, with the aim of looking your best and try to be mindful about what you wear because what you wear matters a lot and the sooner you realize it, the better because when you put in the effort to get dressed, you’re going to get that confidence boost that comes when you dress well.

4.) Keep a style journal: We all know journaling is an extremely effective way to practise self care, so why don’t you take advantage of it and start a style journal? Think of it this way, it’s like a personal journal except you’re focusing on your style discovery journey. Keeping a style journal allows you to record your style journey, set your style intentions and learn more about yourself and what your personal style is.

5.) Go shopping: Take yourself out for a shopping trip, you can even take it as a date with yourself (or with your girls if you’re up for a group shopping trip). A shopping trip is a great idea for a self pamper day where you can just go out and enjoy the town and also get some new things for your wardrobe while you’re at it. You have to be intentional with your shopping though, you don’t want to end up buying things you won’t really enjoy.

6.) Organize your closet: There’s just something about having an organized space that brings some sort of peace to you when you look at it, and in the case of your closet, not only does it give you peace but an organized closet is easier to navigate which makes it easier for you to put your outfits together without much hassle. Organizing your closet allows you to put your outfits together with ease which helps you to save time, plus there’s the fact that putting something in order is quite therapeutic in its own way.

7.) Hire a personal stylist: Hiring a personal stylist to help you find your style is not only a great way to take care of yourself but it is also an investment in yourself and your appearance (just to be clear here, investing in yourself is a form of self care). Getting a personal stylist to help you out with your style discovery journey is a luxury service that you can go for if you really want to treat yourself (not saying that there aren’t affordable stylists, but the service itself is a luxury and who doesn’t like a bit of luxury in their lives😉).

And that brings us to the end of this post, I hope you guys enjoy reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it, and I hope you find it helpful. So what do you think? Which of these stylish self care ideas will you be trying out? Let me know in the comments section below, and feel free to share this post with anyone who you think needs to read it. Well, that’s it for me today, see you guys next time❤❤.

Yours’ truly, Terra💖.

    1. Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed this post, and yeah, I just had to write about it because a lot of people think fashion and self care are not connected at all, I think they’re connected and so I decided to show how.

I really love how you’re putting so much time and dedication into your blog posts and even creating awesome posters for them. Please can you write more on the style journal? I want to know exactly how I can start one. I feel like it’s something I’d want to do, a detailed tutorial on how to make one will be very helpful.
    Cheers!

    1. Hello Fadima, I’m glad you enjoyed this post so much💖. Exactly, if we can practise self care with other things, why can’t we practise it with fashion? I mean, fashion has its own way of boosting our self confidence so why can’t we take advantage of that?

  6. Funny thing is I recently start thinking about doing a fashion moodboard and studying up on fashion so I could figure out what my style is, so far so good I had narrow it down to 4. I just need to understand them more better, will probably implement the style journal, buy lot of fashion magazine and get a personal tailor for myself.

This blog post had been pretty helpful, thanks.

    1. I’m glad you found this post helpful. And yes, I think the style journal would be a great thing to start alongside a fashion mood board. For the fashion magazine part, I think they’re great for knowing what’s in style now, which helps you to know which trend you’d like to try and which one is a no no.
